FAMILY – We are an intergenerational and multi-cultural gathering committed to journeying through life together. We want our church to be a place where everyone feels a sense of genuine love and belonging.    

ACTIVE – We are inspired by the description of true worship in Isaiah 58. We empower each other to “get our hands dirty” and utilise our combined skills, time and resources to bring hope to the people around us. We set up a charity to spread God's love and blessing to all our neighbours.

 

INCLUSIVE –  Bonny Downs is an officially inclusive Church and is part of the Inclusive Church which is a network of churches, groups and individuals uniting together around a shared vision:

"We believe in inclusive Church - church which does not discriminate, on any level, on grounds of economic power, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ."

Our congregation includes people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, theological perspectives and walks of life. We don’t expect people to agree on everything and we celebrate our differences. Everyone is welcome in our family.

 

TRANSFORMATIVE – We want to become more like Jesus so we invite the Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out. Contemplative practices help us. We also want to see God transforming our families, workplaces and community with justice, hope and freedom. 

 

HONEST- We invite everyone to “come as you are”. There’s no need to put on a mask or pretend everything in your life is great. We want people to feel safe enough to be real about any doubts or issues they are struggling with.

FUN – We love celebrating together. We regularly organise camping holidays, day trips to the beach and bring & share meals. 

 

UNIQUE – Bonny Downs is proud to be based in a uniquely diverse multicultural community. Many of our members were born in different places across the globe but the vast majority of our congregation now live in the community that we serve. We are not just a Sunday-morning-only kind of church. We are missional community dedicated to loving our neighbours 7 days a week. 

 

LEARNING –  through experience, helping 'cook up' sermons, studying the Bible in midweek groups, sharing testimonies, grappling with new ideas in a theology course, we support everyone in our church to continue growing in their relationship with God.
