Welcome to Bonny Downs Baptist Church!
Bonny Downs Baptist's Church Response During Covid-19
Although we are not physically gathering on Sundays at the moment, we are still church! Please see below for the different ways that we as a Church Community have been connecting
Church Prayer Walk
On Sundays we hold a weekly Church Prayer Walk and Creative Worship on Flanders Field
Come rain or shine, the field and community garden is open from 10am-12 noon every Sunday and you are welcome to join us for walking church with prayer stations all the way round the field.
On every half hour at 10.30, 11.00 and 11.30am we will be pausing for prayer and worship together in the garden, Come when you want and spend whatever time feels right. We will have communion every week (from disposable cups and following other hygiene precautions) and there will be seating for our elderly members in a sheltered spaced out area.
PLEASE NOTE: We need to practice 'social distancing' at all times on the field and in the garden. No physical contact please and keep 1-2 metres apart. PARENTS – you must ensure that your children follow these guidelines and they MUST be under your supervision at all times. We must remember to follow all of our new ways to greet each other and hand washing will be available.
Those able to walk should come through the Flanders entrance opposite the old church building. Those unable to walk far can come straight into the garden via the Wellington Road entrance.
Well behaved dogs are welcome if kept on a lead and owners are certain to pick up after them. We want this to be a calm experience for everyone.
We will only be able to meet this way if these safety precautions are followed and the Government permits the use of public spaces, such as the field
BD Virtual Church
For those who are able to connect online we have also begun a virtual worship Face Book page. To join you will need a Face Book account (this is free). Once you have this, use this search tool on the top left hand corner and type in “BD virtual services”
This page will be updated every week by one of our church members with prayers, songs and a link to a sermon. There is also space for you to write your own responses and insights in the comments box and there is a similar place to share prayers
This month, our virtual Face book will include links to our Soul Care sermon series. Click the link below where you can listen to a sermon.
Online Sunday School & Craft Packs
Sunday School packs are being delivered to those within our Church community and classes will be loaded each week onto BD virtual Church and will include a bible story, song and a craft session!
Bonny Downs Church has been part of an emergency response partnering with Bonny Downs Community Association. Hundreds of food parcels have been given out to families in crisis across Newham

Bonny Downs is a beautifully diverse family of people all journeying together to grow in our relationship with God. Our church has been worshipping and serving our neighbours in the East Ham South community for more than a century. If you are interested in exploring faith then please come and check us out. Catch up with our latest news on our Facebook page
Bonny Downs is an officially inclusive Church and is part of the Inclusive Church which is a network of churches, groups and individuals uniting together around a shared vision:
"We believe in inclusive Church - church which does not discriminate, on any level, on grounds of economic power, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ."
Bonny Downs Baptist Church is also a registered Charity, Charity number 1136987 and is affiliated with the London Baptist Association. Our church is led by Dave & Sally Mann and we are part of a network of 3 sister congregations in the London Borough of Newham:
Bonny Downs Baptist Church meets in The Well Community Centre from 10.30am – 12.00pm every Sunday morning.
Bonny Downs Portuguese Speaking Fellowship, led by Olga & Santos, meets from 1-3pm in Bonny Downs Church Hall every Sunday afternoon.
Royal Docks Community Church meets from 5.30 – 7.00pm every Sunday in Britannia Village Hall, West Silvertown. (See https://www.royaldockschurche16.com for more info about the Royal Docks congregation.)
Bonny Downs don't take up a money offering collection during our services, however - if you would like to give towards the work of the church, one off or regular donations can be arranged at: https://www.give.net/BonnyDownsBaptist.
Thank you for your generosity!
In light of the news of the recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery and the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests, we at Bonny Downs Baptist Church wish to be clear that we stand in solidarity and support of peaceful protestors who are speaking out on issues of racism and social justice. Systematic racism and inequality are a reality in our society and we recognise that we must be agents of change and spiritual reform to challenge and address this. It begins with us and our own practices and extends to lending our voice and hands to the wider cause. Our Leadership Team are committed to reflect upon our practices and actions and we welcome help to keep on track with our desire to move towards a more decisive intention to model anti-racism as a church community.
